Benki Kuu ya Tanzania (BoT) imetangaza kuchukua usimamizi wa Benki ya Biashara China (China Commercial Bank Limited) ambayo ina tawi lake jijini Dar es Salaam nchini Tanzania kuanzia leo Novemba 19, 2020.
Akizungumza na waandishi wa habari mapema hii leo jijini Dodoma, gavana wa Benki Kuu ya Tanzania, Prof. Florens Luoga amesema kutokana na mamlaka aliyopewa ya sheria za benki na taasisi za fedha, Benki Kuu imeamua kuchukua usimamizi wa Benki hiyo ya China baada ya kushindwa kukidhi masharti ya kuwa na akiba ya kutosha ili kuweza kuendesha shughuli za kibenki.
Benki hiyo hivi sasa itakuwa chini ya uangalizi wa Benki Kuu ya Tanzania kwa muda wa siku 90, huku bodi yake ya wakurugenzi pamoja na menejimenti ikisimamishwa na huduma zote kwa wateja kusitishwa.
Her said China Commercial Bank Limited has failed to meet regulatory requirements regarding capital adequacy and inability to effect restoration of capital to required levels.
Therefore, the Bank of Tanzania has, pursuant to powers conferred upon it under Section 56(1)(g)(i) and (iii) of the Banking and Financial Institutions Act, 2006,Consequently, has also suspended the Board of Directors and Management of China Commercial Bank Limited.
“Be informed that the Bank of Tanzania has appointed Ms. Neema Koka to be the Statutory Manager with immediate effect to handle all matters pertaining to the statutory administration of China Commercial Bank Limited,” he said.
Further he said that in line with statutory administration procedures,China Commercial Bank Limited will not open doors for normal business for a period not exceeding ninety days, after which the Bank of Tanzania will determine the appropriate resolution option.
