During an interview with Lil Ommy, the ´Moyo Mashine´ singer revealed that speculations started when he decided to take a break from social media and commit to family.
This lead to a deactivated Instagram account which made it appear like Anerlisa had unfollowed him – something that raised an alarm.

Media reports and fans were quick to imply that all was not well.
Speculations started for the 4 to 5 days I had deactivated my Instagram account. I just wanted to spend some quality time with with family, my mother and my child. So for the days I had deactivated my account, those who previously followed me, seemed like they had unfollowed me.
Further adding:
Even for my lover, the minute I deactivated my account, I could no longer appear on the list of people following her. Therefore, people concluded that Anerlisa had unfollowed me and that we were not in good terms.
Social media suicide
From his end, his Instagram account was temporarily unavailable and fans immediately concluded that a breakup was brewing.
On my end, my Instagram account was unavailable for those who searched. But ideally, there was no fight between me and Anerlisa, I had just decided to take time off social media. When the media and blogs reported that things were not well between us, we would share the stories with each other. And I could not understand whether people were awaiting our breakup or what exactly? I later got back on Instagram and life continued.

Ben Pol however admitted that if it were not that he is an artist and he needs social media, he would not be on Instagram, because of the negativity and trolls.
