Nazizi is a legend. That’s a title she will hold for eternity. She deserves it more than any other female artiste in Kenya.. She was among the pioneers of mainstream music in Kenya and that’s well documented. Together with the likes of Nameless and Wyre, Jua Cali and Amani, she opened the doors to an industry that’s so vibrant today. I loved Nazizi, I still loved her. But my current state of passion is coated with confusion. What is she trying to do?

Nazizi started the group Necessary Noize together with Wyre and Bamzigi. The latter left prematurely, and dived into a sea of drugs, leaving the two to rock the world. Then as the years passed, Nazizi’s star faded as well. Wyre’s star remained shining, mostly due to his humility, discipline and hard work. He was the last human standing.,

We almost forgot Nazizi. She seemed to have disappeared entirely from our lives, lost in a fug of surliness, until recently. The singer broke up with her lover then she underwent some form of metamorphosis. She cut down all the excessive weight and regained her vigour – but not in a way we expected. She’s not releasing song after song. She’s releasing picture after picture.

Nazizi looks good. She’s testament to the benefits of working out. The grotesquely over-muscled arms are no longer there. She’s no longer Nazizi-the-tomboy. She’s Nazizi-the-Instagram model. She is constantly exposing her body to her followers and doing her best to cling on to the edgy elusive youth. Wow. Is she re-inventing herself? Is she planning to venture into the glorified job description called socialite? Maybe not. Maybe yes

To be honest, Nazizi would make a great socialite. Unlike the other annoying and whorish ones, she has no fake body parts. She would be a better role model to young girls who want to have perfect bodies without having to go under the knife.
